Nylatex Company History

Penn Nyla, formed by the merger of Derby Nyla and Penn International, was a long standing warp knitter of both elastomeric and rigid fabrics, and was based in Long Eaton near Nottingham

Penn Nyla was part of Courtaulds International Fabrics, playing a leading role in its globalisation and earning a reputation for technical innovation.

In 1999 the weft knit production facilities of Courtaulds Jersey were added to the Penn Nyla profile.

In 2000 Courtaulds Textiles and hence Penn Nyla were acquired by Sara Lee.

Penn Nyla was subsequently sold to the UK Investment group Harris Watson in August 2001 as part of Sara Lee’s divestment of Courtaulds International Fabrics.

In December 2003 the company was the subject of a management buy out and subsequently changed its name to Nylatex.
